9 Litre Kombucha Jars

Lead Free

Kombucha is an ancient fermented probiotic beverage that is believed to have originated in Asia thousands of years ago, and is now widely used around the world due to it's amazing health properties. The Kombucha drink is fermented by using a 'SCOBY' along with your choice of sweet tea. The Kombucha 'SCOBY' is a Symbiotic Culture Of friendly Bacteria and Yeast and can also be referred to as the 'mushroom' due to it's fungus like appearance. It is the living culture in this probioitic drink that promotes a healthy gut by restoring good bacteria. Kombucha is best known for detoxifying the body and energizing the mind.

Our jars are individually handmade on the potter's wheel from Australian sourced organic stoneware clay.
They are hand decorated and glazed with non-toxic, lead free glazes and fired in our kiln to 1280 degrees Celsius. At this temperature the clay becomes vitrified and is turned to stone and the glaze turns to glass, making the jar unable to hold or leach any impurities. Stoneware is the perfect medium for brewing and storing your kombucha. Unlike glass jars, stoneware does not allow sunlight to penetrate and therefore does not need to be kept away from direct sunlight.

All Durand Kombucha jars are provided with a BPA free plastic tap and handmade fitted cotton cover. Plastic taps are recommended to be used as metals can react adversely with the brew. Jars do not have lids as the brew needs to 'breathe' in order to ferment - therefore using cotton cloth a natural way to allow this whilst keeping the Kombucha covered.

We make our jars with a tap so you are able to use the continuous fermentation process. This method allows you to dispense a daily amount of Kombucha, topping it up with new tea as you go, as opposed to waiting each time. These jars can also be used to make individual batches if desired.

The 9 Litre "Durand Kombucha Jars" stand approximately 260mm to 270mm high, and 220mm to 240mm wide. 9 litre capacity, designed to brew up to 8 litres - allowing room for the 'SCOBY' which will grow to the size of the jar and float on top of the brew.
